Eli tuli tänään postista LaCien Network Space 2 - ulkoinen kovalevy, eikä kone tunnista sitä vaikka kytkee usb:llä tai kytkee samaan verkkoon kuin missä kone on. Valo palaa laitteessa normaalisti, eikä siinä näyttäis olevan ulkosesti mitään häikkää.

Kun laitteen kytkee koneeseen usb:n kautta ei kuulu edes sitä "bling" -ääntä, eikä kone näytä että mitään olisi kytketty. LaCie Network Assistantin asensin cd:n kautta, ja tämän jälkeen latasin uusimman version nettisivuilta, eikä kyseinen softa tunnista kovoa netin välityksellä. Yritin myös useasti käynnistää kovon uudestaan ja palauttaa tehdasasetukset, mutta nekään eivät auttaneet. Koitin myös liittää kovon usb:in välityksellä kannettavaan, mutta sekään ei näytä sitä tunnistavan (läpärissä tosin linux).

Mitähän seuraavaksi pitäisi yrittää, vai luovutanko ja postitan takaisin verkkikselle?

Lainaus:My computer cannot find the hard drive at all. I have tried using it via USB and the Ethernet cable, but the Network Assistant program (v. 1.4.5 Win) can't connect/find the disk.
The ethernet cable is connected to the same router as my main computer, and when plugging it into the hard drive, it shows 1 orange and 1 green light. I've tested the ethernet cable on my laptop and ensured that the connection is okay.
When connecting with the USB, I can't find any disk information in windows 7. It doesn't show that there is another disk connected. It also doesn't play the "bling" sound when connected to the USB port (As other USB-devices play the bling sound when connected). I have also tried other USB ports, and plugging it into my laptop (using Linux Ubuntu Network Edition 10.10) but it won't work with it either.
The hard disk seems to be okay outside. The blue light is on, and it starts up as it should (at least I think). I also tried resetting the system (pressing 10seconds power button, then once when the red light is blinking) but it didn't work. I tried reinstalling the program and rebooting my computer and I pretty much have done anything I could. I also tried replugging the power and ethernet cable many times, but no help from that.

If I correctly understood your Post; the drive does not show on the network when connected.
I suggest that you check the Network Descovery option on your system to be enabled.

Jotenki tuntuu kummalta, että laite ei näy missään, kytkee sen sitten USBilla koneeseen tai Etherillä verkkoon. Katotaan jos viikonlopun aikana sais apua tuolta supportista, ja jos ei, niin pitänee lähettää kovo takasin verkkikselle.

LaCien levyissä on ollut aiemminkin täysin vastaavaa vikaa. Jäänyt ilmeisesti kytkennät tekemättä levyn sisältä tai ohjain tms. on rikki. Eli takaisin ostopaikkaan takuuvaihtoon koko levy.

LaCien noissa USB-levyissä on sisällä vielä joku LaCien oma softa, joka asentuu koneelle levyn kytkennän yhteydessä tms. Moni on mokannut tuossa kohdassa ja ruksinut väärät vaihtoehdot. Tällöin 1TB kokoinen levy onkin ollut kapasiteetiltaan 10MB. Tuli näin btw. mieleen. Buffalot ovat olleet näissä asioissa paljon LaCien levyjä luotettavampia. Oma Buffalon verkkolevy asentui hyvin kiltisti ja toimii kuin unelma.
